You're making it

Sometimes, college gets overwhelming and frustrating (it's weird that happens right? ;)). Anyway on the days where I don't want to leave my apartment because it all seems so overwhelming and I'm 87% sure that I am going to fail something and ruin the rest of my life (slightly over-dramatic), I always tell myself that college is really just something that some capitalist realized that if he lies to us and tells us if we do it we will be successful and happy one day with it, he can make a ton of money by stressing us out! ;) It's a very comforting thought because if I fail that day at least it isn't going to ruin my future forever and it takes off some of the stress and overwhelming feelings. Although humor is wonderful and helps a lot I feel like there are other healthier ways to comfort myself on hard days.
That was kind of a long introduction to what has really been on my mind recently. We are all so focused on our next goals we don't realize all the goals we have been accomplishing and how far we have already come. Sometimes we don't realize that not very long ago we were telling ourselves "I'll be happy when...." we are in the very position we are in now. Instead of focusing on how happy we are to have gotten into the program or found someone to marry or graduated or got the job, we have a short celebration and move onto the next goal forgetting how amazing we are along the way. I'm not saying that we shouldn't always be pursuing worthy goals. I'm saying we should stop and appreciate ourselves and how far we have come. Appreciating all the struggles that you have been through along the way reminds you of how amazing you are and that you can indeed handle the day and you will make it through.
